Looking to assemble a new band or join an existing one. I prefer blues, classic rock, hard rock and 90's alternative for covers, and I'm very interested in doing some original, socially relevant tunes as well. I love singing old R&B but I'm not really interested in a full-on R&B/Top-40 gig.
I would prefer a rhythm guitar role - my lead work is sufficient, but not what I would call pro-level. I would prefer a lead or secondary vocal role. For me it's all about the music and the crowd, so if it's fun to play and everyone's having a good time, I'll be more than satisfied. So, let's get together, jam a bit and see where it goes.
On a personal note: I am of the opinion that per capita, Santa Barbara is one of the best music cities in the country - right up there with Nashville, Atlanta, New York, Austin and LA. I'm not one of these guys who thinks everyone in the band has to be 21-25 years old and look good in skinny jeans, and I'm not on the other end of the spectrum where my ego takes a thrashing if some 20-something has better chops than me. If you have the talent and work ethic, hit me up.
Guitar: Page, Hendrix, BB King, Jerry Cantrell, and John Petrucci (as a reminder of how far I have to go)
Vocals: Muddy Waters, Al Green, Eddie Vedder, Jim Morrison, Van Morrison, and Bruce Dickenson (again, a reminder of how far I have to go)
Bands (in no particular order): The Allman Brothers Band, The Doors, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, The Foo Fighters, Pink Floyd, Social Distortion, Clutch, Foo Manchu, Filter, Bikini Kill, The Ramones, Panic at the Disco, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Alice In Chains, George Clinton, The Yardbirds, Black Sabbath, The Misfits, Bad Religion, Yes, Rush, Dream Theater, Savatage, ZZ Top, Kiss, and the list goes on...
Ernie Ball MusicMan Axis Super Sport guitars, George L's cables, Orange amplification and Martin acoustics. Line 6 and Electro-Harmonix effects.
