I've been playing 40 years, since I was 9 years old. I'm basically a self-taught groove player with good time and tasteful fills. If you're looking for the next Neil Peart to do a monster solo, I'm NOT your guy. On the other hand, if you're looking for someone with a deep pocket who serves the song, give me a chance.
Despite what my profile says (where we're artificially limited to 3 genre choices), my musical taste is very wide-ranging. In addition to the 3 styles mentioned before (blues, classic rock and R&B), I also like and play, among other genres: alternative (including the jam-band scene), bluegrass, contemporary Christian, funk, latin (think Santana and War), southern rock and, to a lesser extent, country, jazz and reggae.
I'm currently playing regularly at church and at a weekly blues gig. Both of these are volunteer gigs. I'm looking to add a paying gig. It doesn't have to pay much, but the music has to be good and the musicians fun. By "fun," I mean they have to be playing for the joy, not a job, and they have to be into it for the music, not drugs, alcohol or women. As a happily married father of two with a professional job, I'm not looking to "break it" and go on tour. I'm just looking for a creative release and, hopefully, make a little money on the side; I'm not giving up my "day gig" anytime soon.
Would love to practice and gig on a weekly basis, and maybe play the occasional local/regional festival. If interested, contact me at 864-982-1536.
Too many to mention. While my style varies depending on the music, if given the choice I tend to gravitate toward the styles of drummers from Stax and Motown. Then again, I like Don Brewer (Grand Funk), Butch and Jaimoe (Allman Bros.), Steve Gadd (studio legend), Stan Lynch (Tom Petty), Stanton Moore (Galactic), Levon Helm (The Band), Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree), and the list goes on and on.
