About

Howdy,

I'm a mature guitarist / songwriter in L.A., bordering Beverly Hills, south of WEHO.

I sing well (mid/high baritone to tenor), write lyrics and melodies, but I also have a stock of original instrumentals (cool progressions that never got lyrics). I'm looking for some interesting playing situations around my home base, Americana, old style country, classical R&B, something tasty and soulful. I'm interested to find some folks who are easy to work with for bluesy soulful-funky band. Looking for opportunities to sing lead. (310) 347-8579; redshirtguy2004@yahoo.com

I currently play 2nd guitar for Prime Cut Blues, out of Burbank, about once a week. To see recent live performance videos, go to: http://www.primecutbluesband.com/home.cfm

I am currently open to situations that are close to the West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Koreatown areas.

I'm looking to play tasty, soulful music with interesting folks.

Influences

The Band, Steely Dan, Ray Charles, Howlin' Wolf, Bela Bartok, Jeff Beck, Motown/Stax/Malaco (records), Merle Travis, Emitt Rhodes, Josef Haydn, Bernard Herrmann, The Everly Brothers, Lou Rawls, Tin Pan Alley, Top40 ('56 - '96), Ellington/Basie/Armstrong, Django Reinhardt, Henry Mancini, Burt Bacharach

Equipment List

Les Pauls, Teles and Strats, oh my! Not much into pedals or 4x12 cabinets, thank you. I have my made-in-the USA rig(s) & my amazing el cheapo rig(s). I prefer to travel light, but I like to bring a few guitars, if there's room.

I have Fender & Ampeg amps, but I also use Bugera and Roland Cube amps (digital reverb onboard, don'tcha know). I have Gibson, Fender & Warmoth Partocaster guitars, plus some G&L and Xaviere guitars. I use Takamine & Seagull acoustic guitars.

I like guitars with big necks, big frets and big strings. On the other hand, I tend to favor smaller amps. I do favor Telecaster-type guitars at the moment, but I love to play acoustic also. I also play bass well, old school, including electric upright bass, 5 string, etc. I play good slide, lap steel & dobro (but not flashy and not Nashville style) and mandolin.
