It's sometimes hard to describe the exact sound of the Magee Payne band, but the music can be summed up best as "something different". That is different in a way that it shows variety rather than conformity. Both seasoned veterans and up-and-coming artists have shown that some of the most powerful and interesting music doesn't necessarily reside in the nostalgia of avoiding variety--variety is, indeed, the force behind a collective art. Magee Payne's music above and beyond is the heart and soul of the individual who creates it. His lyrics are honest and his voice true to the spirit behind those lyrics, just as his inspirations that proceed him. The beauty of the arrangements comes from the perspective of a bonafide music lover and fuses country, alternative country, classic rock and alternative rock into a sound that is unarguably a unique and interesting blend. With the help of a few musicians, who themselves also reflect a myriad of inspirations and musical backgrounds, the live set takes on a different kind of energy that can be rowdy and subdued, but always aiming to please and entertain. It is love and admiration. It is rock. It is an anthem. It is music a body can watch and feel Magee and his band make their own.
