ABOUT

seeking traditional and acoustic musicians to jam with between north Seattle to Arlington, east to Gold Bar, especially for dancers (contra, square, country, western, bluegrass, blues, french, irish, scottish).
Play fiddle and want to work on improving. No vibrato yet but can do a lot of the other tricks and embellishments etc. of folk/traditional fiddle. Love double string harmony, drones, minor keys. Decent singer (blues, rock, country, bluegrass, old time, celtic) and enjoy singing harmony. Tight close harmonies, 3rds & 5ths typically in minor key, and vocal countermelodies. High lonesome bluegrass.
Old Time, Celtic, Irish, Scots, Scandinavian.
French and French Canadian Quebecois and Acadian music especially, Cajun, Creole, Metis, Cape Breton, Newfoundland.
Blues, country blues, rock-blues, rock-country, country.
Also Flamenco, mideastern, Jewish, Indian, Persian, etc.

Enjoy the percussive dances such as clogging, Irish, Quebecois, and like to play for dancers. Feet Beat is THE percussion of many forms of music such as bluegrass, Irish, contra, Old Time, French (acadian, quebecois, metis, cajun, etc), flamenco, etc. A heavy foot beat is preferred. Podorhythmie too (sitting feet rhythms for French fiddle music). A lot of those forms of music are for dance with a heavy foot beat, and to play them without dancers or without the percussive foot rhythm element are like sandwich missing one piece of bread and half the ingredients. (Can be done, but sounds a lot better with the foot beat which was half of it in its origin and purpose).

I'm good to be the proverbial "second fiddle" playing drones, rhythms, harmony and countermelody, to back up a fiddler better than I. LOL. Love drones in music such as bagpipes and accordion family instruments for that reason. Also if someone is a good fingerpicking guitarist, mando, banjo, etc I could help back them up.

I've picked up musical direction from the scores of movies, often, such as learning of the Horseflies from movie "Disappearances", the scores of movies like Cold Mountain, O Brother, Lawless, Last of the Mohicans, etc. that use traditional music I then look up a tune or the score and learn the tune or more about the musicians who played on the soundtrack, etc.

Outside of the genres listed above, also enjoy rock and metal. grew up in Seattle in the 90's.
blues, soul, R&B, motown.
1930's blues and bluegrass.

Been looking up shape note singing and plan to go to some sings to learn that powerful harmony.
