About

A coworker and I are trying to get something going...We're a couple of friends who are looking to put together a cover band that does justice to late-20th century popular rock music. We're 40+ guys with real careers, families and such, but love the pop music and blues of the 80's and 90's and love to play it. Pop to Blues to Grunge. There is absolutely a market for this stuff playing live and we'd like to find some like-minded people to collaborate with. We're good players with decades of experience, no hacks. Here's a slice of some of the bands that would show up on our playlist. . .
Foo Fighters, Gin Blossoms, Tom Petty, Cure, Cars, Smiths, INXS, Dada, AC/DC, Plimsouls, Big Head Todd, the Church, Toadies, Everclear, REM, Matthew Sweet, Matchbox 20, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Social D, SRV, Clapton, ZZ Top, etc, etc. With a female vocalist, Benatar, Bangles, Go-Go's, Lauper and such. . .
We currently have a guitarist/vocalist and a drummer/vocalist (who might consider switching to guitar/vocals if the right drummer comes along). We're open to guitarists, lead vocalists (female or male), bassists, keys, drummers, the more vocals the better. We have PA equipment and access to practice space.
We'd like to put together something tight that stays true to the original versions of these bands' material. It's our belief that with popular music, most people have personal experiences connected to their favorite songs and want to hear them just the way they remember them. We'd like to gig at least 1-2 times a month, and we're certain that there's a market for this music. And we're marketing geniuses by day...

So- if this sounds interesting to you, reply to this ad and tell us about yourself. This could be really fun.

Influences

SRV, Clapton, Derek Trucks, Albert - Freddie - B.B., Taj Mahal, Walter Trout, Tab Benoit, Big Head Todd, Joe Bonamassa, Dicky Betts, Carlos Santana, Leslie West.
Love to play Foo Fighters, Black Crowes, The Cult, Creedence, Petty, Buckcherry, Sheryl Crow, The Doors, basically all over the place and that's just how I like it.
Will also readily sign up for a pure blues thing and be just as happy.

Equipment List

I play Fender equipment. Have an AS Strat and an AS Tele mod'd w/Duncan PU's. I play through a DeVille 212. I play analog pedals and effects. I have a Mackie / Powered speaker setup with a couple Shure 58's and stands, etc. Can get a start-up band going w/ the basics for a small / medium venue and will invest in equipment if I find the right band and a committed vibe.
