Drummer with 15+ years experience, back after a 10-year hiatus. I have solid gear, strong technical skills, the ability to read charts, and the desire to play out 2 to 3 weekends a month with fun, talented musicians.
Professional approach, relaxed attitude and a willingness to put songs before ego is paramount.
I'm a day-job person, so this won't be a full-time thing for the time being. Weekenders (Fri/Sat), regular weeknights & short-circuit hops are doable.
All the classic rock standards (Zep, Stones, Yes, Who, Skynrd, etc...).
I'm a huge fan of the 70's/80's studio-kings (Steely Dan, Toto, Supertramp, etc...) Not big into chops for the sake of chops (e.g.: Rush), only chops when they truly serve a song.
I also have shuffle/train chops, so I'll take on old-school R&B (Commodores & earlier) or country if the music & players are cool.
For the record, I prefer music that makes people move/sway/dance over headbang/mosh/slam. A performance should be an "upper" not a "downer."
