Sang and played professionally.
Interested in meeting and jamming with other musicians, vocalists, and songwriters initially, and see where it goes from there.
Possible interest in putting a group together for local/regional gigs.
POSSIBLY interested in throwing in with a working band, or one that is already
partially formed. I play rhythm/acoustic guitar and can do harmony and backup vocals, and/or share lead vocals. (It can be quite a physical and mental strain on ONE lead vocalist to get through a two hour or longer gig, plus, the audience appreciates a little variety.)
As far as putting together a band of my own: Of particular interest would be keyboard,
steel guitar, fiddle,base,
lead guitar, and drums. A plus if those musicians can do harmony/backup vocals. For
duets and to add variety A female vocalist is also of interest.
Might also be interested in playing rhythm/acoustic guitar and doing backup vocals and/or harmony for the right vocalist - male or female - who do not wish the accompaniment of a complete
band.
SO... if you have something in mind musically, give me a shout and we'll discuss it.
(And if we try it and it don't work we'll dis "CUSS" it!!!)

Influences
Country:
Merle Haggard,GeorgeStrait, Jim Reeves,Don Williams,Eddy Arnold,Charley Pride,Clint Black,and a number of others,
including some less well-known or largely unknown artists.
Gospel and church music: I was exposed to and performed a variety of gospel and church music from a very young age. I still enjoy playing and singing it
now and then. (When I can remember the words!)
Classic Rock:
Many of the (now vintage) rock bands such as the Doors, Steppenwolf, and CCR.
The "blue-eyed soul" groups.
Chicago, Blood, Sweat, and Tears.
I was NOT a huge Elvis fan, though I did/do respect his talent, showmanship, and ability to connect with and
hold onto his fans. I also admired him for the caring and generous nature he displayed toward his family, friends, and sometimes even complete strangers, if all the stories I've read are true...
Blues:
Many of the real old time blues artists: Robert Johnson eg.
Some of the "later model"
(but still vintage)blues artists: Clapton eg.
Pop:
The "crooners" such as Nat King Cole,Sinatra,Crosby, etc.
Vintage:
I enjoy a variety of stuff
from the 1950's music scene, and yes, thinking back to when I was 3 or 4, and the 45's that my older brothers always had stacked on the spindle of that old RCA "record-changer" I guess
I could say that I was "influenced" by that stuff as well.
Bear in mind these are just the performers and songs I feel I've been influenced by and NOT by a long shot everything I like, or listen to, "Alternative Country" and "Americana" for example.
If I tried listing it all I would likely run out of space on here! I think a lot of musicians can relate to that. The majority of those I've known that I would consider top of the line musicians seemed to be able to find something they liked in a variety of musical
genres and styles.
