Sometimes I feel too old, sometimes I don't. Have you ever wanted to get some people together and just make any kind of noise you thought sounded good without having to do all the poser stuff? No need for genre-specific accoutrements, no need for doing your hair just right or wearing the tour shirt you think will give you the most cred. Why not have three guitars and two basses and two drummers and a baritone sax making heavy noise, or maybe spaced-out blastoff jazz, or higher order thought provoking mellow sounds? Or forget the wacky ensemble and do it with drums and guitar. "Every work of art is the child of its age and, in many cases, the mother of our emotions. It follows that each period of culture produces an art of its own which can never be repeated. Efforts to revive the art-principles of the past will at best produce an art that is still-born. Wassily Kandinsky wants us to make something new. Covers are fine if that's what you're into, but I have no need to recreate what has already been created. I have no desire to "cop" anyone's "tone" or emulate another player. I like to listen to great music but what's been played has been played, and what I play should be what I play. I should sound like me and you should sound like you and we should make sounds together. Noise must be made. I don't think I'm too old for that.
