About
I'm 26 and have been involved with music my whole life. I joined the Madison Boychoir when I was in 2nd grade, sang in the top choirs at UWEC and was part of a 6-man a cappella group called Fifth Element where I served as a high tenor and vocal percussionist. In addition to drumming with my mouth, I'm a very good "real" drummer and am also a good rhythm guitar player (I can also do some lead stuff, though it doesn't come as natural to me as rhytym). I also find myself at home in the recording studio.
I want to start/join a band for fun and gig out 1-2 times per month (more if we are well received and all want to pursue it together). Note my influences below for the type of music I hope to sing/play and I have a sample song list of tracks I would sound good singing on. I am a very versatile vocalist and can sing pop/rock/country but try to stay away from the heavier rock screaming stuff and am definitely NOT into metal at all.
I'm also a live sound and studio engineer. I have one full length album under my belt as a performer with Fifth Element and I recorded/produced/and mixed another album on which I did not perform for the UWEC vocal group "The Innocent Men".
Hit me up at jonkinney [at] gmail [dot] com or on Twitter @j2fly or contact me via my website http://jonkinney.com/contact. Cell is 920-349-7829. I am currently very busy with the studio build project as well as a client project in the studio that I'll be transitioning to once the build is finished and am thus not immediately available for much of anything. That being said, I am still looking to start something on my own, most likely acoustic/solo act to start (maybe with a few other top notch vocalists/guitarists if our tastes are similar enough) or if the perfect band opportunity comes along I would consider that as well. But please look at the song list for the style of music that I am accustomed to... I'm not Scott Stapp so please don't expect me to get on stage and fling sweaty hair around and scream ;-) I'm also hoping for guys that are around my age since I want to make friends and have fun making music rather than trying to scrap together a bunch of gigs to try to make some cash.
