I have been playing guitar for 30 years and bass for 24 years. I consider bass to be my main instrument, but I am very comfortable with a guitar. I started taking classical guitar lessons when I was 17, but I wanted to be Jimmy Page, from Led Zeppelin, and thus the classical lessons only lasted a couple of years. I switched over to electric guitar and started playing with friends in San Diego. This band lasted for a few years with a revolving door of musicians. I switched over to bass when we had a difficult time finding someone reliable. I found my calling, and love playing the instrument. I played for a few more years with this band playing in the San Diego area. I found love and started a family and jump ahead a few years and here I am. I have been playing at local venues in Spokane and find myself looking for something more specific to my taste. I listen to all kinds of music, but mainly looking for something heavy (ie. old Black Sabbath, Judas Priest). I am not much on playing in a cover band as most of my work has been originals. I am not against playing covers, but I think if you are going to play them then you should spend the time learning the part that makes them good to begin with. The bands I have listed as influences are just that. Influences. I have not spent monumental amounts of time learning every riff that these bands have written. I listen to them. Currently, playing with the very talented musicians in the band, Freak System.
