Hi, I'd like to start a classic rock cover band for potential bar/club gigs on Oahu. I envision more than just your typical band of middle-age dudes and/or dudettes playing songs while staring at their shoes all night. Not that it's a bad thing, but the scene is flooded with that style of a band and I will create something more visually/theatrically exciting and musically interesting. I've been playing guitar on and off for 30 years and am getting back into it. I play rhythm and some leads and looking for another guitarist to weave rhythm and leads with. Looking for a lead vocalist. Back-up vocalist is cool too. A percussionist required to drive the sound of the band. Bass player is ok but prefer someone more diverse than just bass, perhaps keyboard and other instruments too.
I play the electric guitar, both 6-string and 12-string. Same goes for acoustic guitar. I can play basic harmonica and am learning the Dobro lap-steel. I play in both standard and open tunings.
I practice 3-4 hours daily and always trying to improve. I have done studio workin the past with original material but am not a studio/session musician per se.

Musical dynamics are important to me, know when to crank it up and know when to crank it down...not trying to create migraine headaches for anyone. I want to create a very listenable sound with energy and of musical force.
The vocalist must be heard prominently the rest of the band must be aware of the band's complete sound. Drowning each other out is not good, so we must be able to play nice and understand muscial dynamics.

Must be reliable and committed to being in a band, I'm easy going and patient and looking for similar personalities, no high-maintenance or "difficult" people please. No BIG ego-heads either...c'mon, we're just a cover band. No drug users please. Alcohol use ok (assuming you're over 21 of course), but no over-use of it during practice or gigs.
Looking to create an entertaining show rather than just play a few sets of random songs with no cohesiveness. Looking for the right chemistry of musicians/people to create a great sounding band. Create a stage personailty for yourself, don't just be Joe Generic Moke. :)
If you're interested in taking the bar/club cover band up a notch or two from the status quo and you have similar musical influences/likes as I've listed below (not in any particular order) and this concept sounds interesting to you, then please contact me and I'd like to hear your ideas of an entertaining band too. I live on the Windward side (Kailua) so musicians on the leeward side may be too far away unless someone already has a rehearsal space in between Kailua and Kapolei.
