Who / What is James Street Station?

James Street Station was founded in the summer of 2005 by E.J. James. Originally intended to be only a website/domain where E.J. published his home recordings and news about his other entertainment industry endeavors, it has evolved from time to time to encompass more, and be more.

It has been a solo endeavor, a full band, a production company, and even a recording studio. It's most recent incarnation was that of a full band which included several very high caliber, very talented musicians.

For now JSS is back to a solo endeavor with the website (http://www.JamesStStation.com) simply providing a publishing medium for E.J.'s solo home studio recordings and jam sessions with friends.

EJ has been playing guitar since the age of 10 when he first saw Ace Frehley of KISS wielding the instrument that captivated him the most. He's had the opportunity to play in several bands throughout his career including bands like "High Risk" (a Dallas based guitar rock band), Dvinity, and most notably Leviathan, a technical-progressive hard rock band also based in Dallas.

EJ's influences include players ranging from Ben Moody to Zakk Wylde, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd to SRV. EJ considers himself a multi-instrumentalist since he is also proficient in playing bass and keys (as well as a few other obscure instruments). He is an accomplished sound engineer having spent many years recording, mixing, and mastering in the digital realm.

He currently uses MusicMan, Fender, and Schecter guitars and basses, D'Addario strings, Line 6 amps/effects, Ampeg and Gallien-Kreuger amps/sound reinforcement, and Marshall sound reinforcement.

While he's been focused on guitar for most of his musical career, EJ has also played bass and keys for many years. Having played all guitars, bass, and keys in his solo recordings has helped him become proficient with all three instruments.

Influences

Breaking Benjamin, Fireflight, Shinedown, Evanescence, Sick Puppies, Within Temptation, Disturbed, Lacuna Coil, Sevendust, Nightwish, Queensryche, Pantera, Black Label Society, Alter Bridge, etc.
