The J.O.B. (The Jim O'Ferrell Band) was formed in May 2008 after Jim returned from his 2nd combat tour in Iraq. A solo working guitar/vocalist for many years, he recognized the need for additional sound and talent to properly convey the passion of the many compositions he wrote while deployed into harm's way.

Enlisting the unique abilities of Jason Crawford on lead guitar, David Woods on bass, and Stephen Whitesides on drums, the band launched into its first collaborative recording project which became the album 'Back to the World', released January 8, 2009..

Now playing live shows in the Richmond VA area, The Jim O'Ferrell Band has been featured on FM Rock & Roll stations in various 'new artist' on-air segments with 'Vigilante' emerging as a strong and powerful single from the album. Their music is currently part of a national radio promotion and being spun on 150 radio stations nationwide.

Influences:

The J.O.B. sounds like a genuine Rock & Roll band - with no pretending and no role playing. The compositions are emotionally charged and real. Lead guitar licks reminiscent of Duane Allman or Clapton... rhythm guitar runs smacking of Marshall Tucker or Pink Floyd... intense bass lines leading the charge like Chris Squire of Yes... and thundering percussion of the same caliber that Danny Carey brings to Tool. Jim's vocals strike hard in every listener with a deep Americana quality that is both gritty and deliberate. As stated by a Richmond record producer after hearing a recent performance, "The J.O.B. really connects."
