ABOUT

Jonathan “Jay” Jones was born on September 15, 1986, in Boynton Beach, Fl and currently resides in Coconut Creek, Fl. At the early age of 5, Jay’s desire to explore the field of music began in a small church where he developed an exceptional keenness in musicianship. He began by playing drums at age 5 and later developed a strong desire to learn and master the bass guitar by the age of 17. Since accepting his call into music ministry, Jay has been blessed to play for many of South Florida's premier mega church ministries such as New Birth Baptist Cathedral of Faith International in Miami Beach, Fl. There, he was allotted an opportunity to play for gospel sensation, Kim Burrell, at age 17. At age 19, Jay pursued ministry at yet another mega church, Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Pompano Beach, Fl. In addition to serving as bassist while at Hopewell, Jay also held the position of Musical Director over the music department.

While serving faithfully at Hopewell, God's favor was upon Jay as he continued to work with the nation's greatest music artists such as Stellar Award Winning gospel legend, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Melvin Williams of the gospel quartet "The Williams Brothers" (Dove and Stellar Award Winning Artists), Canton Jones, and Crystal Aikins, winner of the BET Gospel Show, "Sunday's Best," to name a few. In addition, Jay has also made appearances on the Bobby Jones Gospel show.

Jay's professional resume further expands into other genres including Hip Hop and R&B. The distinctive sounds that he has created have been featured on the albums of Day 26 (“Day 26”), Ludacris (“Theater of the Mind”), and Rick Ross (“Deeper than Rap”). This talented musician performed with aspiring Universal Records R&B artist, Suai, who made an appearance on BET's teen series "Baldwin Hills”. Currently, as a bassist, Jay travels with American Idol Season 4 finalist, Nadia Turner.
In 2009, Jay Jones returned back to New Birth Cathedral of Faith International as a full time bassist. Upon his return, Jay has played for gospel artists such as Kim Burrell, Lemmie Battles (Stellar and Grammy Award Nominee), and Dottie Peoples (Stellar Award Winner).
In 2010, Jay Jones released a Christmas album entitled "Jay Jones Presents…This Christmas". Jay is currently working on his second album, "Jay's Love Jones: Based on a true story Vol. 1," which is scheduled to be released winter 2011.

Recently, he has played bass for Grammy Award Winner, Regina Bell, Dove Award nominee, Jonathan Nelson, and Gospel soul artist, Daniel Johnson. As a part of Jazz in the Gardens 2011, Jay performed with Sy Smith, Emmy Award and NAACP Theatre Award Nominee.

He is currently endorsed by Aguilar Amplifications, .aguilaramp and iGig Cases .iflygig
