Basically, I've been playing for about 10 years. Been in and out of bands since then, a few that have caught some interest, but nothing that's really been too long in effect or steady.
I'm in the military which is one of the biggest reasons why holding a band together has been hard. With that said, I'm really looking to stay out here in the Omaha area when I get out, and I was looking for a band for the long-haul, preferring a group of civilian guys, but it doesn't have to be.
I'm not expecting I'll be leaving out of here before my term is up, then I'm getting out and going to school for music production, so I'll be around for a band that'll need me.
I'm really into old 90's alternative rock, mainly Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam. I'm also into Tool, Blackline and a lot of other really great bands.
I'm NOT A SHREDDER! Hell, I can hardly even pull a good solo out to save my ass, but I can write some good music and would prefer a stance as a Rhythm guitar player, or the only guitar player if that's the way you want it.
I'm not looking to blow the doors down. I just want to write some good music, play gigs and show some of this songwriting to the world. Hoping to find a band that's in it for the music and not the rest of the BS. I can be one hundred percent satisfied with having a decent fan base in a small club downtown. That's what I want. The rest is just the rest.
You can hear my music at www.myspace.com/staythestranger, or look up 'Josh Crook' in the bands/musician area of myspace. Also, www.myspace.com/pyric for some of my older work. Stay the Stranger was more recent.
Also, I've been messing around a little bit on the vocals. Though my recordings aren't the best, I've done some work with a dropped C tuning, which seems to suit my singing range a little better. To listen to some of my covers, go to www.myspace.com/joshcrook.
Pearl Jam, Tool, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Audioslave, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, A Perfect Circle, Smashing Pumpkins, Local H, Temple of the Dog, Blackline, Bush, Metallica.
PRS Single-Cut - Guitar
Warhead Amp, Mesa Half-Stack (Not currently with me, but I can get it here.)
Peavy Practice amp.
Boss GT-4 Pedal.
That's all I need for now. I produce plenty of sound.
