About

****Contact me at jlotz10@ g m a i l .com****** (for those who do not want to pay for "premier account")

I am looking to start or Join a band. I am pretty open to the specific scenario. I do have a few things in mind though... A female counterpart to play/sing with, a few people who can play multiple instruments getting together and playing some sort of loop based, full sounding rock. The Ideal band would be one where I could sing sometimes, and not other times, play electric, but be able to play some other instruments as well when called for. It would have a lot of people involved (most of which can play multiple parts as the music calls for. It would range from an intense, heavyish sound, to a song or two with just a piano or accoustic.

I played for a while in sort of progressive rock band (think mars volta ish, but more guitar driven than noise driven), I also did vocals in a metalcore band in highschool (ah the things we do when we are young). Ever since I have played music I have been involved with the music at whatever church I am part of. This experience has ranged from playing and singing by myself to have larger, very professional feel for audiences of 2000+. I hesitate to mention that because I know that church musicians don't always have the best rep. for being creative/talented. But I did want to mention so everyone out there knows that I have had a lot of experience playing w/a lot of different people, under pressure, and in front of large crowds.

As of right now I have sort of been doing the singer/songwriter thing. I write a bit (especially right now), but I really need to be with other people to help me focus musically - I am to ADD to stick to one genre/style by myself...

But most of all, I REALLY MISS PLAYING SHOWS!!!!!

Influences

In no Particular Order.... Andrew Bird, The Cival Wars, Josh Garrels, Sleeping at Last, Bon Iver, The Mars Volta, Over The Rhine, Sufjan Stevens, Discover America, Rocky Votolato, Iron and Wine, Arcade Fire, Norah Jones, Regina Spektor, MeWithoutYou, Anathallo, Coldplay, The Decembrists, Dignan, Gungor, and many more...

I also used to listen to a lot of heavy music as well (Norma Jean, Fear Before the March of Flames, Converge, Comeback Kid, As I Lay Dying, Etc.), and in a way this stuff probably still influences me a bit, but I don't listen to it much any more.
