ABOUT
I consider myself an all-around musician, which means I love music theory first. I arrange and compose music, but primarily I'm an arranger, transcriber, and performer. I have played different styles in different venues with lots of groups over time.
I was part of a cover band, Off 95, for three years, and had to bow out recently because my work schedule has exploded and made our rehearsal schedule almost impossible - so I would like to offer myself right now as a substitute or stand-in player, or contributor to a studio project, or really anything where I don't need to lock in for 4-hr rehearsals on weekdays, as much as I enjoy them.
I was music director and accompanist/band leader for a high school theater group for about 7 years and continue to do this as time allows. Several years ago, I composed a full length musical for the school to perform, and charted it and played it with student musicians. I have helped teens with their tone, finding pitches, rhythm, etc., and as needed, I arrange the background vocals for bands I am in.
I enjoy 'covering' other musicians' songs, but I do NOT want to be a copy machine or a note-for-note regurgitator of music. That's what modern technology/mp3 players are for. I like taking a song and changing its meter, or its genre or instrumentation, etc.
My biggest strength, I'm told, is having a very good 'ear'. I have been told I am also a very emotive and creative pianist, and I play for Groton Bible Chapel's traditional hymn service every other week.
I have composed and 'produced' several albums of original music on a 16-track recorder and have done a terrible job of self-promotion, with the exception of a couple open-mics and some be videos.
VERY BUSY SCHEDULE right now with work, Mon-Fri, but I want/neeeeeed to play music, even if only as a stand-in.

rehearsal memo, ain't no sunshine (sans bass), 11/30/11 Year: 2011 Genre: Cover/Tribute
please don't assume that i like this track better or worse than other rehearsal recordings - perhaps i'm too lazy to sort through them all right now :) i'm doing piano, vocal, and sort-of-directing the flow of song, because i'm a control freak... kidding...
