ABOUT

Jim Sadler is a local jazz guitarist and composer. He graduated Atlanta Institute of Music with honors in 1999, and has been in multiple rock and jazz bands. Jim graduated cum laude with a BM in Jazz Guitar Performance from Kennesaw State University in 2010, while studying with guitarist Trey Wright. He played in several ensembles including the KSU Big Bands directed by Sam Skelton and Wes Funderburk. He has also studied with Dan Baraszu, and Rick Burgess and was a participant of the master classes of Corey Christiansen, Jimmy Herring, and Lionel Loueke.

Jim became a guitar repair technician in 2003 after apprenticing with Ken Bennett of Warrior Guitars and Number 9 Guitars. Jim designed, built and assembled three custom guitar instruments, while learning skills like fretwork, shell inlay, setups and electrical wiring. He is currently assisting Guitars by KB with their first archtop design, The Benetti, which will be released in the spring of 2014.

Currently, Jim is working on his first transcription book of Wes Montgomery’s record, Smokin' at the Half Note. Jim is a founding member of the Sadler Jazz Guitar Duo, and a member of TuKute Productions Jokes and Jazz House Band. He was also a featured performer of the 2012 Buford Jazz Festival, and is currently developing his own brand of original jazz through his influences of funk, blues, jazz and jam music. Jim will be recording his first solo record this spring with an anticipated release in the fall of 2015.
