ABOUT

I want to play music that make me smile…

This system only allows “ four style selections”…
Bummer…the ONLY music that I DONT want to play is hate music…..
EVERYTHING ELSE IS ON THE TABLE….

Really good music, Really Good Players, Really good times, Really Good Money, or really cute ladies... from gig to gig...I'm gonna need two from that list

I’ve done a kazillion gigs and I’ve Had my butt handed to me by some world class players... but then they call me back !??!!

No I am NOT ...THE.... BEST.... but I CAN
1) play with a click... ( so I must not be THAT bad)
2) I listen ... and I’ve had players complain that I’m a mind reader... yes really
3) Some times “ verbatim” is called for.... but if you’re goal is the play twenty songs exactly like one take... on one day.... I might not be your guy. ... I don’t really want to paint by the numbers all night...ORRRR
4) We might find that we’re a fun mix.... but I’m one of a couple drummers that brings freshness...

Jazz, Funk, Lounge, R&B , all forms of Country, Blues, Funk, Latin, Grooves and Jam Bands
Progressive and Rock

I am NOT interested in verbatim "play it exactly like the recording"....

I have done a kabillion society/ tuxedo gigs where our max volume was below a speaking voice.....and I have done jazz combo, big band jazz .... and 100+ Orchestra gigs.... but I have also done the wide open full tilt Country Stomps and Metallica gigs..... what I PREFER.... is all of the above.

Steve Gadd, Weckle, Zappa, Carlton, Atkins, Beck
Steely Dan, Foreplay, Daryl Hall,Glenn Campbell, Metallica, Yes, ZZ,

Almost everything out of Nashville

Music is a live conversation.
I do really enjoy playing MANY different styles and venues. It's not the style of music... but rather the quality of the people, personalities and musicianship that would make or break the deal for me.

I did my first New Years Gig when I was 12.. yes really.

First Concerts were Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald.... and then Pink Floyd, Yes, Deep Purple, ELP

Most recent concert was Yes and then before that....FourPlay .. Larry Carlton

Influences

yup... Stravinski ... the first time "Right of Spring" was played ... the audience rioted....

because it was new and ground breaking....and people thought that they wanted to hear the same thing played the same way.... until they learned that “New and different” is good too...

don't assume that you’re the best.... but also... dont assume that what you hear on the recording is THEIR best.... move foreword....

EQUIPMENT

I currently own MANY drum sets including a 1960/1970s Rogers, an electronic Roland TD-12 and two Pearl Export kits ( for Florida outdoors and rock playing)

I also have a full set if mics for my drums, plus Mixers, P.A. amps and smaller speakers EV 12”...
My sub is only big enough for home rehearsal or a TINY venue.

Please re-read the first statement...
I was making $200 / night in 1980....
So really.... I am willing to play with GREAT people, and/or great musicians.... playing THE HELL out of whatever the gig calls for.... or it better be FUN.... OR EASY.... ( we walk on to a back line waiting for us) ... or good money....
I am not interested in driving 90 minutes each way... to play Proud Mary ... in a dive...for four hours .. for $75 .. I had that t-shirt and I threw it out.
Truly I’m not a jerk ... I WANT to play music with a smile...
