To get the basics out of the way: I'm Jinx (née Thalia, but folks call me Jinx), a 19 year old female songwriter and vocalist in need of a band. My songs vary from classic rock to folk to punk to blues to country-rock to classic metal to indie rock. My intellectual/musical influences include Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Band, Guns N Roses, and The Velvet Underground (I can get into that art-punk stuff too), and my attitude influences (yes, you read that right) include Bon Jovi, The Clash, Patti Smith, Guns N Roses (again), and Janis Joplin.
I'm looking for any and/or all of the following: lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, drummer, bassist, pianist/organist. I'm definitely NOT into the whole "chick band" thing, but I wouldn't say no to some female band members if they had the right attitude. I'd like to do a lot of my original songs, but I also love covering oldies and anything else that rocks.
But enough about me. Let's talk about you, as a prospective member of my band. You should have a sense of musical humor, which is hard to explain but I think if you have it, you'll know what I mean. You should be fun but dedicated, and I don't mean practice-eight-hours-a-day dedicated, just dedicated to the music. You DON'T need to be an absolute genius on your instrument, as long as you can say "I'm good" and mean it. Finally, you should definitely live near me, in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY (Saugerties/Woodstock area). If you have practice space, fantastic, if not, I might be able to supply it. We'll talk.
The point is, I want creative, fun-loving, original people who share my goal of forming a band that's a unique star in the star-filled Milky Way.
