I own lots of excellent equipment. Although my improvisational skills are exceptional, when learning cover songs I'll learn intros, fills, and solos note for note if they are essential to the song. I use many different tones and effects (tastefully) and usually attempt to emulate the sound of the guitar on the original recording. I can play Classic Rock and sound exactly like Clapton, Page, Beck, Hendrix, Santana, Trower, Frampton, Walsh, Blackmore, etc. ~ I still remember their solos note for note. I am careful not to overplay, or play too loudly. I will not drown out a singer or other instrument.
