Greetings, fellow musicians!
My name is Johnny and I am a professional studio/touring drummer. As a drummer I've been playing for 25 years. I played my first performance when I was 7 and have been touring since I was 14 years old. My preferred taste is in modern rock but I have played for a variety of groups ranging in styles from rock/metal to jazz and latin. For the past 9 years I have been singer/songwriter for Phoenix AZ based pop/rock group Good With Grenades. Since the projects beginning in 2003, My personal studio recordings, written and recorded entirely by me, resulted in a record deal through Atlantic Records and an album produced by Mike Green (American Idol, Paramore, Pierce the Veil, Panic! at the Disco, Set Your Goals, All Time Low). The band has since played hundreds of shows and completed several US tours but enough about that.
As an overall musician I have an interest in many different instruments but my first and main passion is percussion. I have a great sense of time and can play to a metronome very well. I play "in the pocket" with focus and sensitivity to the groove and the musicians around me. I am punctual and respectful. I love to have fun like everybody else but I play sober like it's my job. I do not have an ego but I do have a lot of creative insight if needed though I don't push it unless you ask.

Here's a track I produced/mixed for a local San Diego band. I did not write the song itself but I think the recording is an honest representation of what I do. I wrote and recorded the drums on this song myself directly to tape in one take. The drums in this song are unedited.
