ABOUT

I started playing guitar around age 14. I wanted to be a drummer, but I couldn't afford a kit (I have one now though!). I was blessed with a good ear for music, so I taught myself how to play by listening to Zeppelin, Hendrix, and AC/DC records. Then thrash came along and I fell in love with bands like Megadeth, Sepultura, and Slayer. Around age 18 I bought a 4-track recorder and started writing my own tunes. Ever since then it's been a steady cycle of practicing, writing, and playing live.

I've played in several different bands over the years (Epstein's Mother, O for 2, Stellar, Counterpoint...). Some played modern rock covers, some played 60's rock/R&B, and some played only my original stuff. I've been a lead singer out of necessity, but I prefer to just play guitar and sing back-up. I've played plenty of 30-45 minute sets comprised of all original music. I have also played plenty of 4-hour nights with cover bands. I'm open to either.

Influences

My favorite bands are probably Radiohead, Slayer and Led Zeppelin, but I listen to all kinds of stuff (Arcade Fire, Bjork, Soundgarden, Beastie Boys, Devo, Metric, Fishbone, Snoop Dogg, Helmet, 311, James Brown, Jamiroquai, Lamb of God, Primus, Tool, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mastodon, Miles Davis, Silversun Pickups, Junior Brown, Sepultura, ZZ Top, etc.).

I would say that my original songs sound most like Zeppelin, Rage, and Faith No More.

EQUIPMENT

Hamer, Fender, Mesa

I have a practice space/studio in my basement with a drum kit, mixer, monitors, and 24-track digital recorder.
