I am a self-taught guitar player. I enjoy playing leads mostly, buts that's probably because I play by myself alot. I am quite capable of playing rhythm. What I normally do is turn on the radio (sirius satellite radio now) and just jam over whatever I hear, over any type of music. I just like to close my eyes and get lost in the music. I've played out a little bit at some open mic nights, and it was alright. But I am looking for some kind of a long term original band thing locally here in the Newport area. I am willing to travel though, as I expect anyone in a serious band would. I have some original material, but I have sort of not written alot because I've always imagined doing that in a group context with a band. When alone I just tend to jam.

Influences:

I grew up in a classic rock household, Beatles, Stones, Clapton, Floyd, etc.. Earlier in my playing, I was influenced by heavy metal kings like Metallica and Megadeth, but that was a short phase. I got to college and began partying a little more and listening to more music, and I got into Phish real heavy. Other bands as well like Blind Melon, and basically a path to more mellow sounding music. And for the last three years or so, I have been on a Grateful Dead kick. Basically, I get into a band for like three or four years and I learn their entire history and all their albums and songs. I imagine I'll listen to Phish and the Dead forever, but I think its about time to expand again and find some new music. I also enjoy reggae.
