I'm currently not content recording by myself at home. I'm looking to join or form a band. I'm interested in doing originals and covers and I prefer the rock genre. I enjoy playing blues, funk, reggae, and silent music. I'm pretty much open to any project so long as it's fun. I don't have a sense of humor and can't stand to laugh. If I laugh, I get really upset. So upset that I end up laughing more. I'm looking for other people that can encourage this behavior even though I don't like to laugh. My taste in humor is mostly slapstick, silly, and sometimes just plain odd. I'm NOT looking for anyone who worships the devil, but I'm also NOT looking for anyone that is waiting for the spaceship to land so we can drink the Jesus juice and board it.
I'm very interested in finding like-minded musicians that are looking to make some fun music and have fun playing it. If we make a few bucks doing it, that's great. If we get a record deal, that's awesome. If we end up just playing a few shows locally/regionally from time to time and never break in to the music business, that's fine too. I have a level head on my shoulders with a strong grasp on reality. I'm all for going as far as I can go with music and reaching for fame, but at the same time I'm grounded enough to realize that having fun is the most important aspect of it. IF IT AIN'T FUN, DON'T DO IT!
I have samples of audio from my previous band (Perfect Mercy) at www.perfectmercy.com or on myspace at myspace.com/PerfectMercySpace. I have some goofy stuff I've recorded with me attempting to play all the instruments on my personal myspace music page at myspace.com/JustinParkerMusic.
I prefer to find other musicians in the age range of 18-40. I'm not closed minded to anyone outside of that range, but that's what I prefer. I prefer that you be human. It's hard enough to get people to listen to your music when you're human. We don't need no stinking aliens trying to take over the band.
I could care less what you do in your personal life, so long as it doesn't affect mine. I don't tolerate chemical abuse and don't want to be around any illegal substances. I prefer to rehearse and perform sober and am looking for like minded individuals. Having a beer from time to time to kick back is fine with me, but if it's something that's habitually excessive I don't want to be a part of it.
I prefer to locate other musicians and/or band(s) that have some demo of playing. You can hear samples of me playing and it's only fair that you present me with something as well. It's just really a waste of fuel and time if either of us aren't interested in the other ones playing. Personalities obviously have to mesh, but if we're not literally on the same page of music, it just won't work. I'm sure you understand. If you don't then why are you still reading this?
A rope walks into a bar and the bartender stops him and yells "hey, we don't serve your kind in here!" The rope briskly rubs his hands through his hair and says "I'm sorry, I'm a frayed knot!"
If you can at least crack a grin at that, you're alright in my book. Yes, it's stupid.
