Hey there,
My name is Justin and I've been playing drums for 16 years and the guitar for about 7. I've had quite a bit of experience in the studio, and have spent a fare share of time on the road as well. I'd like to think that I can be pretty darn creative when there is room for it, but strive to never be overly showy. I'm all about working with the songwriter or producer and getting exactly the tone and rhythm they love. I also enjoy helping write and form songs. (beyond the drum lines) I'm excited to say that as of this year I can call myself a full time musician, as it is my ONLY source of income.
I really am not looking to join or start any bands right now. I am interested in doing any kind of RECORDING on everything from demos to albums. I promise I have really cheap rates compared to most other guys around here. I need to grow my portfolio!

Influences
Drummer-wise: it's hard to avoid the typical Moon, Pert, Weckl, and Bonham influences but I really have learned and been changed by the likes of Glenn Kotche, Buddy Rich, Bernard Purdie and Stewart Copeland.

in general: I've grown to really enjoy alot of different music (and for the most part have grown OUT of punk rock and metal) I'm a big fan of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Wilco, the James Gang, Springsteen Petty Fogerty Zepplin and most other 70's rock, Squad 5.0, Sufjan Stevens, My Morning Jacket, The Killers, Sinatra, Ryan Adams, Rascal Flatts, Motown....I had better stop before this list gets any more diverse!
EQUIPMENT
Most importantly I have a cowbell.

I play a Birch Yamaha 7 pc kit. (although I typically don't use the whole thing at the same time)

I also have a really vibey 16" Ludwig kick drum for Folk, Jazz and quieter applications.

I use Paiste cymbals from the TRADITIONAL line, but have some SIGNATURES that I will use sometimes as well.

This one is off one of my favorite sessions I've played on. We did it in a studio right on Music Row in Nashville TN, and the BRER guys are great. I did all the percussion parts on the bridge as well!
