They may hail from Houston, but their music is a road trip. Guitars that sound of Liverpool via Athens, GA circa 1983 and a stop or two in Bakersfield. Bass guitar like the sound that shook the walls at CBGB’s and rocked the Casbah. Drums that bring to mind Starr’s steady swing and Bun E. Carlos’ bombastic beat. Of course, true north for any band is the singer and the songs, and the Bad Luck Charms have Kathy Dare behind the wheel with her sassy vocals and songs that sound at once familiar and fresh---Blondie’s Debbie Harry hanging out with The Runaways.
