Hey! I'm a current student at NIU and have been looking for a band to join or a group of people to just get together with and play. I've been playing Flute primarily for the past 14 years of my life, taught myself Guitar, Piano, some percussion, but never pursued those as deeply as I did with Flute. I use to be a Music major but switched out of it when I got told for about the third time that there wasn't anything that my teachers could really teach me.
In terms of my playing ability, for guitar or piano, I'll either have to listen to the song or work on the music reading it (not great at reading on piano), but on Flute, I can read anything that you put in front of me or complete improv through a whole song. If you want a certain feel to be brought across, I can do that as well through my Flute.

Influences:

Whew, I've been influenced in the oddest of ways by almost everyone. Listening to someones life story can even serve as an influence, or listening to a piece that's been beautifully composed.
I get tired of the general 'Jazz' Flutist and professionals out there. I'm not saying they're bad, if anything they are beyond phenomenal, but not what I look up to. I actually look up to the bands in which I hear their sound, and then notice that there is something missing from that sound...and a majority of times I know I can close the package. Just sucks because they probably don't know me at all because I'm sitting in a chair watching the concert lol.

I've got my own Flute(s), Acoustic guitar (broke my acoustic/electric, so I'm just on a normal acoustic), I've got about 5 million drum sticks...thanks to boredom/practice/guitar hero and that's about it.
