Lars doesn’t play your grandfather’s ukulele. Actually, he plays his mother’s. Lars was raised in a musical family. At a young age, he saw the uke as a way groovy guitar. That status has never changed.
In the early 1980’s, Lars picked up drum sticks. He played (and plays) drums in a variety of L.A. bands. The Butchers, Hungarian Music Lesson, Egomaniacos, and Apache Dancers were/are his primary bands. Lars doesn’t adhere to many rules. It’s part of his punk rock upbringing. Although he plays many styles of music, he gravitates back to hard driving music.
