Derek & Teresa the soulful duo known for their distinct style and delivery are still on that mission. These Veterans of CHH have stood the test of time and continue to be driven to produce music.
In 1988 Derek (aka Shakespeare) signed with Egyptian Empire Records (under the group name His Majesti) with label mates Egyptian Lover and Rodney O & Joe Cooley. After a short Run with Egypt he hooked up with music mogul Paul Stewart's management company along with other artist such as Coolio and The Pharcyde. He then signed with Scotti Brothers Records in 1993 under the name Shakespeare and The Lumberjack. Later on in that same year Derek was led to The Lord by his mother and his whole world view changed. It was at this time that he realized that he could not continue doing music as he did in the past.
Teresa studied voice privately for ten years in southern Cali with Kristen Cornell and Dr. Maurice Allard from The Allard Academy in Orange County, CA. She is also an Alumni of The Young Americans Song & Dance Co. a world renowned international music educational program. She has also had the privilege of vocal coaching two world renowned orphan choirs. Not only has she been at the forefront of creating great music but she also uses her gifts to teach others vocal excellence.
As Mista & Mrs. Taylor Derek & Teresa have recorded 7 albums and are preparing to drop another very soon. They have produced many artist have done countless collaborations with many in the industry. They have had the opportunity to travel the world with the gifts that have been given to them. They created TMU (aka THA MASH UNIT) back in 2006 and it has now morphed into what you see now....
