Started with Denard Drew (rhythm guitars) and Derrick Whitt (vocals, bass) Lumination had been performing at various church events and live events at the Rescue Mission in 2005. Though Denard Drew is no longer a member of the band, co-founder Derrick Whitt continued on with lead guitarist and vocals Mike Payne, who had been with Black Cactus for ten years, and veteran drummer Gary McNamara (abruptly left the group in January 2009). Jay Lock became newest members to the group. Lumination is prepared to record the first CD with A&R Records, Bad Reputation, featuring one track: Rodimus Prime/Galvatron Battle Theme, and it is available now.

Mike and Jay play Fender guitars. Tim plays Roland Drums. Derrick plays Samick and California bass guitars. Crate GX-1600 mixer amp, Peavey XR-600B mixer amp, 2 Fender SP-10 guitar amps, and BC Rich Bronze BCR 10 guitar amps. Our favorite places to get great gear is the Guitar Outlet in the Carousel Mall and Guitar Center on Erie Blvd in Syracuse.
