ABOUT

I've been playing pretty much all of my life, and enjoy a broad range of music. A lot of the music that I'm drawn to these days would fall into the ambiguous "world" category. I like music with a lot of color, texture and dynamic range. And, I like to do it with people who have good attitudes and who listen to, and play off of, each other. Creativity and good intent are essential, and I want nothing to do with angry music.

Gigs and/or jams could be of interest, but good people and good music are the most important considerations. I'd rather play creatively for enjoyment than to regurgitate for pay.

Play from the heart, in the moment ...

EQUIPMENT

At musicalpeace.com, there's an "ingredients list" for the drumkit in the picture Naturally, it continues to grow, and the list is just of the things that were in the kit when the picture was taken years ago. I'm currently using an ash 7"x14" snare with wooden hoops for more warmth than the metal snare in the picture. When I play out, I usually play a djembe. With its incredible tonal and dynamic range, it's a really versatile instrument. When approached as a complete instrument, and not as just a three-tone monotonator, it can fit comfortably in almost any musical situation. Also, after years of totin' drumkits, it's really nice to be able to put my instrument in a bag, throw it over my shoulder, and even have both hands free... a drummer's dream come true.
