Long distance collaborative composition via postal mail. The first project will go down like this: Take four strangers who make music and each have the use of a four track (casette tape) recorder. The first person (me, in this case, to get the ball rolling) will record their contribution to track 1 of the tape, then mail the tape to the second person, who will in turn record their contribution to track 2 before mailing the tape to the third person, who will record on track three, and mail the tape to the fourth person, who after recording on track four, will mail the tape back to the first person, who will convert the finished product to mp3 and post to myspace/mailorderorchestra. Currently looking for persons 2 through 4!!!

Influences:

"Exquisite corpse (also known as "exquisite cadaver" or "rotating corpse") is a method by which a collection of words or images are collectively assembled, the result being known as the exquisite corpse or cadavre exquis in French. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence. Each person is only allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed." "The technique was invented by Surrealists in 1925, and is based on[citation needed] an old parlour game called Consequences in which players write in turn on a sheet of paper, fold it to conceal part of the writing, and then pass it to the next player for a further contribution. Later (perhaps[citation needed] inspired by children's books in which the pages were cut into thirds, the top third pages showing the head of a person or animal, the middle third the torso, and the bottom third the legs, with children having the ability to "mix and match" by turning pages) the game was adapted to drawing and collage. It has also been played by mailing a drawing or collage in progressive stages of completion to the players, and this variation is known as "exquisite corpse by airmail", or "mail art," whether the game travels by airmail or not. The name is derived from a phrase that resulted when Surrealists first played the game, "Le cadavre exquis boira le vin nouveau." ("The exquisite corpse will drink the new wine.") Another theory[citation needed] is that the drawing version predates the writing version, and that the resulting mis-matched body parts produce what is referred to as the "exquisite corpse."
