I've been a multi-instrumentalist for thirty years. I started playing piano and guitar when I was young but focusing on guitar through most of my music life. Along the way, I've also played bass, banjo, pedal steel, ukulele, pennywhistle, Irish flute, and some drums. Nowadays, my main instruments are mandolin and guitar. I do sing, but it isn't my musical focus.
In my first twenty years, I played in many bands, wrote music, recorded, played gigs, and generally had a great time. About 15 years ago, I went on a musical hiatus, focusing on work and family and barely playing at all. Over the last five years, I've picked it up again and have been practicing seriously on mandolin and guitar. It takes a while to build back what you've let waste over ten years, but it's coming back.
My musical interests span indie/alternative, roots rock, country/alt-country, folk, blues, irish, and lately a lot of oldtime and bluegrass. I love discovering new indie music on every bit as much as wandering through my collection of recorded music from the last 70 years.
