ABOUT

Hello, my name is Matt. I'm 23 years old and from Santa Rosa. I am interested in finding Drummers, Bassists, vocalists and possibly other Guitarists aged 18-25 to hopefully form a new band. Currently I don't have a practice space, so we may have to resort to renting a space if things begin developing nicely. It would be great if anyone interested could provide some recorded examples of their abilities and also have their own equipment.

I've been playing guitar in bands on and off for about 7 years now. In terms of guitar skills I have only formally taken guitar lessons for about 1 year total, but I have come up with the foundations and concepts for numerous songs over the years. Beginning around the age of 16 I played in some hardcore/metal type bands, later in a more eclectic punk/screamo mix for 5 years. These don't necessarily represent the style of music I would like to play, but here are a few examples of my guitar playing/writing: ://./watch?v=5l87kXOCWx0 ////// ://./watch?v=-wHVY1TXUCs&feature=share&list=UUarX9VASM6yoaN71204v6sg ///// ://./watch?v=-7amBuXqar0&feature=share&list=UUarX9VASM6yoaN71204v6sg ///// ://./watch?v=cNmx00-0ULo&feature=share&list=UUarX9VASM6yoaN71204v6sg ////

My first priority would be having fun playing music together and hopefully challenging ourselves to write fluid songs that others might enjoy. It would be great to record an EP, play some local shows, and eventually even go on tour(probably just within CA)

Influences

So first off these are some bands I enjoy listening to most, though I do not plan on trying to play music specifically based on any of them: Thrice, AFI (sing the sorrow/art of drowning), The Dear Hunter, and a now defunct band from Connecticut that no one has heard of:
Call it Arson- ://.be/3ZGH5Nwvp98 ://callitarson.
I actually would love to play in a band that sounded anything like call it arson, but I wouldn't mind other styles of course. Outside the realm of the sort of "rock" of the above bands, I am still open to playing emo/screamo/punk and perhaps a more indie type style.
I am pretty sure I would NOT want to play music that falls into the genres of: Metal, Ska, Classic Rock, Country, and probably not Pop Punk.

EQUIPMENT

I have a pretty decent sounding guitar and half stack amp for playing shows. I have a super old drum set in not so great condition, which could conceivably work for practice, but probably not for shows. Also have a PA system, though I'm not positive on its current condition.
