New Jersey metal band Apathy is probably one of the most hardworking bands to date. Causing a significant amount of recognition, Apathy is a band to keep your eyes and ears open for. Not conforming to the more popular metal styles of today, Apathy is a breath of fresh air in the NJ metal scene. – A/ECR

On February 23 2008 Apathy’s hard work paid off, when they were given a chance to open up for death metal artist Suffocation a Relapse recording Artist at one of NJ‘s premiere venues, Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ placing them on Ticketmaster. The opportunity leads them new fans both in the states and around the world. April 29 2008 Apathy was asked to perform on a local cable TV show “Tuesday Night Rocks” in Port Jervis, NY. The show was viewed by 30,000 homes and via web stream, where viewers from Israel, Mexico, South Africa, Italy, Japan and the Netherlands were able to watch.

Apathy’s music comes across to many as old school thrash and a touch of classic metal. Melodic and aggressive, with an energetic live performance. “Era of Terror” the first track off there demo delivers that energy and aggressiveness like a bomb falling from the sky...“Violent Nature” another track off their demo is just fast, and in your face, speed! Becoming a fan favorite and getting much radio play on the local college radio stations. Violent Nature will remind you of such classic metal albums as Megadeth’s “Killing is my business” or Slayer’s “Show no Mercy”.

Apathy was founded in 2000 by guitarist/vocalist Pete Wells, later recruiting drummer Bill Jameson in 2005 solidifying the line up. Quickly the band hit the NJ Metal circuit and performing at one of the most legendary rock and roll venue, The Stone Pony, Asbury Park 1/1/07 and then weeks later opening a metal show with host Mistress Juliya of FUSE and Maxim magazine at the Fast lanes. The two shows combined earned Apathy respect among the metal audience and metal groups a like.

The Apathy line up would take a drastic change in spring of 2007. In there bitter sweet success of making a name for themselves, Apathy’s lead vocalist quit after a show in April ’07. Pete decided to do lead vocals till they found a vocalist, as well as look for another guitarist and bassist. September of 2007 lead guitar Manuel Cordova and bassist John Tikamason come to the fold. Revising the line up in time for a NYC performance Oct, ’07 and a write up in The Aquarian / East Coast Rocker “Apathy’s music is like a breath of fresh air to metal heads.” Apathy has to date not stopped. John later left the band after the Feb. 23rd show for military duty and was replaced by Bill Valverde. Bill has been with the band since Feb, and has become a leading ingredient in group’s performance and writing.

Performing consistently since Oct 2007, Apathy plans to head west for a few dates in late May. Performing only 2 more shows in the NY/NJ area, Apathy looks forward to start recording their album later this summer.
