I am a versatile drummer and am looking for a hardcore/metal/emo/punk band. Harder is preferred, but I like a sense of urgency & emotion in my music too, so I can flex to other ends of the spectrum as well. I specialize in mid-tempo, rhythmic, hardcore/metal/punk grooves with good variety in time signatures & creativity. I'm into slick dynamics, bustout power changes, stops included, with intricate & original riffs to play with. Pulsing, headknocking, neck whipping bass-drum driven beats are my joint. Double bass gets kicked about 50% of the time. I am not a speed or 'gallop-style' drummer, but will go there for bursts depending on what the song calls for. I have played with numerous bands & projects; 2 serious bands along the way. I fronted an all-original funk/hardcore/rap/indy band (Psycloptics) for 2 years (approx 30-40 gigs), and was the drummer for a progressive rock band (1yr, approx. 20 gigs) I have played gigs in ct, ma, ny, ri; CBGB's, Living Room (prov, ri) Webster Theater (Htfd, CT) Little City, (Middletown,CT) el-n-gee (NL,CT) to name a few. I haven't played with a band in a few years, so it might take me some time to feel out your sound. If I'm into it, the learning curve will increase and I see myself being ready to gig some of your original material within a month or so. I am serious about playing passionate, edgy, headnodding, emotionally charged music and prefer original but can swing some covers if nec. I'm an easy guy to get along with, like to chill/party, but hold a 'responsible' fulltime job during the week. No kids & not married, so those are non-issues. Anti-drama. I am realistic with expectations and am not interested in half-assing a project or 'jamming' without the goal of eventual written material to record & play live. Email me: matt@brombuilders.com
