I want to start a progressive rock band. I need either a good dedicated bassist OR an over-the top guitarist able to handle anything and everything from classic rock/blues to 80's metal, progressive metal/fusion. I play a Malmsteen style. You can check out my guitar vids on you tube username 'licksandtricksdotcom' you could do a search on 'End of the Worl solo' there, mine has been up for the longest time with just about quarter of a million hit and 4 and a half stars (I have hair in the video and I'm playing a Schector Gryphon thru a line 6 on the vid.)You can email me there if you want.I have a myspace music page if you do a music search on METALdaly. I'd like to get a guitarist as good as or close to my level if I'm to play bass in the band rather than guitar. I pluck the bass with mostly my first and middle fingers, I also use all the first three fingers on the right hand when called for. I do a lot of right handed taps on the bass also. I can currently play Billy Sheehan licks and riff very close to the recordings. If I end up playing the bass for this band and get a guitarist I hope to do a few David Lee Roth songs as well as some Mr.s Big songs, some Iron Maiden and any Rush the singer we get can pull off. In other words I want it to be a lead guitar and LEAD BASS group. If your reading this and play bass, and are content with just keeping the bottom down, I would be interested in hearing from you. Because if I DO play guitar instead of bass I'm going to need at least a good solid bassist to learn 25 to 30 songs BEFORE the drummer gets involved. Drummers around here seem to pick up the material a lot quicker than moast bass players. I can show you the bass lines and even tab them out for you, no problem. I doubt I'll be hearing from any bassist because of the vast variety of material I want to play, but if interested I would like to hear from you.I'm a guitar and bass teacher by profession and if you want to play bass for this band, and need to just step up your technique;I can help you in that area also. I have tons of originals down also, and hope to take over the music sceen in this area. As far as I've seen there is only like 2 or three top over-the-top heavy rock bands around this area, and with the right people my sights will be set on being the best.
