ABOUT

MIGUEL BENITEZ – SINGER/GUITAR
Originally from Clorinda, Province of Formosa, in northern Argentina, I began studying music at a very young age and was performing publically by the age of 14. I performed with “Estampas Gauchas”, a folkloric group of musicians and dancers. Later I toured Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru, and Ecuador performing with folk music groups “Vocal Cuatro, “Alma” and also in “BARRO” a popular Latin rock band. I moved to the United States in 2000 with folk/rock band SOLAZO, and also performed as trio with Kike Rodrigquez and Steve Bloom in Washington DC from 2000 to present. I play guitar, bass, bombo, and charango. I sing lead and harmony, duo, trio and four-part harmonies. Most recently, I joined Moshe Shulman in Buffalo NY playing a mix of tango, milonga, south american and russian folk music. I am seeking to join other professional musicians interested in playing south american folk and contemporary latin music.

Influences

My influences include folkloric and rock music from South America and Cuba, as well as classic rock of the United States. A few groups that come to mind are Fronterizo, los Chalchaleros, Charly Garcia, Eliades Oches, Santana, the Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash. ... too many to name here. There are many great Chilean, Ecuadorian, and Peruvian musicians I haven't named.

EQUIPMENT

I have high quality and full sound system for 6-8 piece band to play concerts, indoors and outdoors. I have many guitars, electric, acoutstic, and bass. I also own some unique south american instruments.
