THE SKOONERS (garage/indie/alternative with blues+punk influences) - In 2006, music industry veterans, Jerry and Bob Greenberg were looking for the next best emerging young talent in Las Vegas. The Greenbergs, owners of the famed Rainbow Bar & Grille in L.A. and former leaders with major record labels as Atlantic Records, MGM/UA Music, and Warner Bros were on the judge’s panel that crowned The Skooners as the First Place Winners for the “Rock the Rainbow” band competition. An indie band of pop-soul rebels with a distinctive alt-rock flavor, The Skooners have played such venues as the "Whiskey A Go Go", "Hard Rock", "House of Blues", "Bunkhouse", "Beauty Bar" and most recently "Studio 54" for "Live Brew". Opening for such acts as "The New York Dolls" and "Veruca Salt", the band has garnished a loyal local following and was voted in 2008 “Best of The Valley” by "The Las Vegas CityLife". In July, brothers, The Skooners are Blair Dewane (vocals, accoustic guitar), Ian Dewane (guitar), Jake Farmer (drums) and Max Supera (bass). They are now recording their new album in Seattle with Sub Pop Producer, Ben Kersten ("Band of Horses") .
