Hey! I'm looking to get a band started. I'm currently involved with a guitarist and a drummer (and between bassists). I have plenty of music background (clarinet, piano, guitar) but I find that singing is what brings out the most passion in me. When I was actually playing the instruments, I wasn't feeling the passion because I think too technicially. All I could concentrate on was what exactly I was playing. I couldn't get lost.
No I don't have formal vocal training. I've just been doin it all life. I've been in chorus all throughout school years, and I would have liked to do some vocal coach lessons, but I don't have money for that. So, no I don't know everything technical when it comes to using my voice and I know jack sh*t about vocal equipment, but I think if we all work together we will make something great. My voice has been to compared to Sierra Kusterbeck, Keely Smith and Brody Dalle.
I'm fine with covers, but just a few. I want to write original music. I was to get these sounds out of my head for everyone else to hear. Because I do have experience with guitar it is easy for me to incorporate that aspect as well as the vocals. I do write as well. I've written songs on and off for years. I'm pretty critical of it though so only the best would be molded into a song.
I don't want just another typical band with a typical sound. I love all types of music so in cohesive ways I'd like to incorporate all different genres. It would obviously all make sense when melded together. I love blues licks over quick beats and metal thrash. There is just so much you can do with music and I do not think people utilize it well at all. There is so much potential with so much sound. I practically hear the music in my head and in my dreams.
I want to get on stage and sing the words I can't normall say to people, and I hope that there are others that wanna get that amazing sound out that makes everyone else feel it too.
As for sound, I have a wide range of tastes. I honestly like anything from Stevie Ray to Black Flag. But my main influences are Bad Religion, NOFX, Distillers (Spinnerette), OLD Everclear, Frank Zappa, VersaEmerge, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Social Distortion, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, System of a Down, Sublime, Murder by Death, Motorhead, Johnny Winter, Johnny Cash, Iggy Pop, Howlin Wolf, Little Feet, Long John Baldry... I think I will stop there haha. I think you get the idea that I enjoy a lot of different things.
I currently have no vocalist equipment, just guitar. I have a Marshall amp half stack with two electric guitars, three acoustic and a ukulele.
*Sidenote: All the instruments I checked as "looking for" isn't all necessary. I figured I'd just check off any instrument I think would work well. We are just looking for a second guitarist right now and the more versatile you are the better!
