A retro sound for a new generation. Los Bandidos can best be described as a blast from the past with a new age twist. The group has been entertaining crowds for two and a half years now, with their high quality, energetic live performances. This ten piece orquesta is made up of the finest young musicians in Northern California. Bringing back the big brass sound immortalized in the 1970’s, Los Bandidos mix in old favorites of yesteryear with their original hits. Heavily influenced by Tejano legends, namely the legendary and untouchable, LATIN BREED; Los Bandidos are helping to keep Tejano alive and bring back the classic Tejano sound to today’s Tejano fans. Whether it be a high intensity cumbia, a romantic bolero, or a kickin’ tejano jam, Los Bandidos always deliver an extraordinary sound.
In September of 2004, the band’s leader, Mike Torres III, started to kick around the idea of starting a band with his two cousins. Brothers: Angelo and Esteban Torres-Esquer. All three young men were/are part of their Grandfather’s group, The Mike Torres Band. Starting their own band would give them the opportunity to create a way of presenting music that has come to be known as “Bandido style”. Mike did not have to look far to find the rest of the Bandidos. All of the original Bandidos were students at Sierra High School in Manteca California. Andres DeLoa, Mitchell Colvin, Jacob McHenry, Scott Bartenhagen, Randy Sandoli, Angelo, Esteban, and Mike.
Ranging in age from thirteen to seventeen, Los Bandidos began to perform live in December of 2004. The groups first performance was a fundraiser dinner for the high school music program to which they all belonged. Since then the group has been hired for numerous public and private events such as quinceaneras, weddings, Church festivals, and Community events. In February of 2005, Los Bandidos were honored to be asked to perform in PARAMOUNT’S GREAT AMERICA™ as part of a showcase of young, up and coming talent in Latin music.
Los Bandidos also contribute their talents to give back to the community. Their support is annually given to their alma mater, Sierra High School for fundraising events that benefit the music program. The group has also volunteered performances for a local “Walk For a Cure” to support the American Cancer Society. In December of 2006, Los Bandidos donated a performance to a “Toys for Tots” dance put on by the Bay Area Tejanos. All of these events were great successes, and Los Bandidos are very proud to have had the privilege to have been a part of them all.
Their self titled, first album, was independently released in July of 2006. Produced by Mike Torres III, Randy Sandoli, Mitchell Colvin, and Esteban Torres-Esquer; engineered by Mike Torres III, and recorded in the MTB studio in Lathrop California, this album is packed with great arrangements and memorable selections.
Los Bandidos are currently enjoying great regional success but have plans to expand their fan base. The group is currently working on their second album, and they are going “Totally Tejano!” Although a hard market to break into from California, all of the Bandidos are ready to take that challenge head on.
Mike Torres has recently relocated to San Antonio Texas to further pursue his career in the Tejano field. He is currently forming a new band in San Antonio.
