Up and coming bass trombonist Paul Munger is a freelance artist based in Salt Lake City Utah. From a young age, Paul has been interested in music.  He picked up a trombone at age 8 and played it all the way to Snow College. While at Snow College, Paul quickly made a name for himself by winning the bass trombone seat in the nationally renowned Jazz Ensemble One, along with several other ensembles at Snow College. A handful of select musicians, including Paul, were chosen to go to Italy (2007) and Holland (2008) to represent Snow College's chamber music program. Paul was asked to be the assistant to Vance Larsen the Dean of Fine Arts at Snow College in 2007, and continued to help manage the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band for Mr. Larson until 2009. Paul has always had very strong leadership skills and has shown these as he created and led anything from a ska band to a classical trombone quartet. Paul has always had a big heart and a desire to give back to the community and to young musicians. Paul is a peer mentor with the Utah Youth Symphony and the Utah Youth Philharmonic, giving of his time to help teach and inspire. Paul has helped run several music camps in Utah such as “Jam Camp” “Juilliard to the Mountains” and “Manhattan to the Mountains”. As a result of this, Paul has worked with world renown artists such as Carl Allen, Wycliffe Gordon, Conrad Herwig, Jeff Coffin, and Rodney Jones just to name a few (for a complete list please visit photo gallery). During Jam Camp 2008 Paul was Artist Manager and was in charge of a least 15 artists. Paul has been studying with the bass trombonist of the Utah Symphony, the nationally renowned Russell McKinney since 2006. Paul plans on becoming a music historian as well as a professional bass trombonist.
