Keyboardist... Wanna Play Fusion?
If you want to play fusion, have fun and grow musically, this could be your dream fulfilled.
I don't know if this situation is right for you. We are a Jazz Fusion band that recently formed and are located on the Southside. Our ages are late 40's early 50's. Everyone has toured extensively previously. We looking for the following musicians.
Keyboards.
Here's why...
It looks like we are going to have to replace our keyboard player. So... if you feel you are capable, versatile enough to go from funk, to rock, to calypso, to straight ahead jazz and willing to join something a little further than just forming. (Though this is Not an immediate money making opportunity)
Here is a partial list of songs we have learned.
=> Fantasy - Earth Wind and Fire (no vocals though)
=> Europa (Earth's Cry Heaven's Smile) - Santana
=> Freeway Jam - Jeff Beck
=> Mercy Mercy Mercy - Zawinul
=> Spain - Chick Corea
=> Phase Dance - Pat Metheney
=> Well You Needn't - Thelonius Monk
=> Sun Goddess - Ramsay Lewis EW& F
=> Birdland - Weather Report
Other songs on the list we will be adding when you join:
=> Breezin - Bobby Womak (But a different arrangement)
=> Smile - Old Charlie Chaplin
=> Over the Rainbow - Played Fusion, Latin, Psychedelic
=> Hideaway - Freddie King
=> Wildlife - New Tony Williams Lifetime
=> Black Market - Weather Report
=> Thunder Thumbs and Lightnin' - Bros Johnson
=> Some Skunk Funk - Billy Cobham
Challenging stuff I think you'll agree. But you can see the flavor of the music. We will also be adding some jazz blues to the mix. Old Basie boogie woogie style. And eventually some originals.
The musician line-up is
Guitar
Bass
Keyboards (You would replace the current one)
Drums
We all have twisted senses of humor, and while we don't take oursleves seriously, we do take the music business seriously and act professionally. Hopefully like me you too are no nonsense, no ego trip in your attitude towards playing music.
We're looking for a fellow musician who has business and professional attitude. Most important traits now are RELIABLE and RESPONSIBLE and Really Want To Do This... and are NOT Prima-Donnas. It needs to be fun and rewarding for everyone, not a personal ego trip.
It's perfectly OK if you have been out of playing for a while and want to get back into it. If your chops are rusty, that's perfectly OK... they will come back.
Vocal ability is a plus but not necessary. Your playing, professionalism, and attitude is more important. And besides, it will be 98-99% music 1-2% vocals.
Obviously, this is NOT an immediate money making opportunity. Right now, it's about finding happiness playing good music with good players and finding our "voice" and getting it tight. It's more about the music than the need to sell out to play out. But it is nice to get paid. I think you know what I'm trying to say here.
Ask yourself this...
Can you hold a steady groove? Do you like the freedom to improvise and stretch out? Do you know when to play in the pocket and when to go "Outside"?
Do you want a musical challenge that is fun? If so... come join us on this journey.
I believe with the right people you and we can put a really good and fun thing together, everyone partners. We can make money, challenge ourselves musically, and expand our musical horizons.
If this appeals to you contact me, and let's talk and set up a time to get together and jam.
