I own and have played a piano/keyboard for as long as I can remember. I play solely by ear and I really enjoy it and have no desire to learn to play by notes. I also own and have been playing acoustic guitar and acoustic-electric for 6-7 years. Drums are another fun instrument that I have been playing for many, many years. As a child, I owned a small set of drums; and now, I own an electric set. Other instruments that I own, but haven't put a lot of time into include: a mandolin, ukulele, harmonicas and clarinet. I have recently remodeled a room in my house that now has all of my music equipment; including instruments, amplifiers, microphones and equipment for recording. I am new at the recording side, but very eager to learn. I have not taken any classes to learn recording; I've only used online videos and research. I have checked at the local community college, but they do not offer classes pertaining to music or recording. I signed up for a potential recording class at a music store that is an hour drive from my house, but apparently there wasn't enough participation for the class, because I haven't been contacted and it was about 6 months ago that I signed up.
I also am a song writer and I sing. I entered our countys annual talent show that was a 2 night event. I played my Taylor gs mini acoustic and sand 2 songs that I wrote. I also played an instrumental medley on the events Grand Piano. I won 1st place. I would love to advance my music and take it as far as it can go. I am now in a position in life where I'm not tied down with my personal own small children. (I have a 20 mth old grand daughter) I'm finished with my medical career and can now focus my time on my music. My children are grown and my husband is supportive. So, if anyone reading this can help me or guide me to the next step(s), please do so. I will be forever grateful !!!

Influences

Growing up, my parents always had a piano in our house. My dad plays harmonicas and the piano, and has always encouraged me to play. No matter what instrument I play, if my daddy is around to hear it, he is excited and always supportive. I would definitely say that my daddy has always been a musical influence for me.
Also, my mama took me to church every Sunday morning, Sunday night and every Wednesday night. Our church involved all types of instruments, which I was drawn to. As a young child, maybe around the age of 6, I remember playing a tambourine. At the age of about 9 or 10, I played drums for our church. Then, at the age of 12, I became the churchs' pianist. I have been playing piano and singing in churches ever since. I also, play drums and/or guitar for churches when needed.
Because of my mama raising me in church, and exposing me to musical opportunities; I would say that my mama influenced me and caused me to be influenced by other musicians at church, along with others there that saw my musical passion and gave me the chance to develop skills that helped pave the way to where I am today.
