Nancy Weaver's jazz singing has been compared to June Christie and Julie London. She works solo with rhythm guitar accompaniment, and has years of experience in a jazz trio with guitar and bass, playing dinners, parties and dances. She is also very interested in up-tempo retro-swing.

Influences
More and more, I'm listening to and playing music from the early days of Western and bluegrass, though I'm a big fan, and love playing retro-swing, ala groups like the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers.
EQUIPMENT
Nancy uses AKG and Shure microphones, and is pictured with her 1981 Epiphone Emperor guitar. She prefers her acoustic-electric guitars for solo gigs. She typically works with guitar and bass in a trio, but is also working in a quartet with trumpet, bass, drums, and guitar.

All fired up from her week at the Port Townsend Jazz Festival, Nancy rejoins longtime collaborators Tom Cook (guitar) and Paul Lewis (bass) for an evening of jazz over dinner at Bisbee, Arizona's excellent Cafe Roka, 35 Main Street. Call 520-432-5153 for reservations.
Nancy will miss Cool Jazz's July 27 date at Cafe Roka to attend the 2007 Port Townsend Jazz Festival in Port Townsend, WA. This year she'll have a chance to be coached by Italian jazz sensation Roberta Gambarini. (Nancy's still reeling from last year's experience with the amazing Kurt Elling!)
