Hey! I've been drumming for about 6 months but listening to metal for about 15 years (I'm 29). I have an acoustic set, which will be in storage for a few months to come, but have a full digital kit I play in my apartment.
What I think would be awesome is to find a guitarist, or even better, vocalist and bassist too, who has recorded some tracks on their own that I can play to. It's not like you have to be really good--it would be fun to make some music with some other metalheads who are maybe just learning themselves but really love the music.
I'm OK so far, straightforward rock/metal beats are down pretty good and I can do short bursts of double bass at like 160-170 bpm max. I can do straight 16ths at maybe 140 max (on a good day). It would definitely be appreciated if the guitar is recorded to a metronome and a click track wouldn't be horrible either. I really love playing a groove style of metal.
I have a full time job and a small child so I don't care about ever being a serious musician. This project would just help me play along with other musicians and at some point we could meet up to jam when people have the time/place to do so. It might be fun in the distant future to eventually play shows.
