Hello! I'm a 20 year-old college junior in Lawrence, KS. I've been singing pretty much all my life, and since I was a kid I've wanted to be involved in performing music. School keeps me pretty busy, as does my job teaching piano, but I'd love to be able to get some experience playing and singing in a band. My voice is an alto-mezzo soprano range, and I love to compose and arrange music on piano/keyboard. After I graduate, I do plan to move to Chicago, but while I'm here in Lawrence I'd love to get some experience singing for a band. :)
What I'm looking for is more casual, given that I have to work around school, work, and my brother's schedule here at home. I'd like to rehearse once or twice a week, but I can't travel far (tight budgets). I don't think I'd be able to gig more than once a week for now unless my schedule opens up. As for music, I'd like to do mostly original songs (I write my own lyrics and songs), but I'm open to covers depending on the song. : )
I'm sorry for the lower-quality audio in my videos (as well as the fact that it's just a picture and not me... I blame low disk space on my computer when I made them, and film takes up a looooot of space on my tiny laptop). Those are my two most recent songs that I'm most proud of (one's obviously a cover, and the other is an original).
Feel free to e-mail me at p.hunter1991@ or drop me a line here!
The list of artists and genres I love is... pretty long. My musical tastes extend from Celtic Woman to Nightwish... but my biggest influences are probably.... Paramore, Sara Bareilles, and Owl City. Paramore is the style I'd like most to imitate, especially Hayley's powerful vocals. Sara Bareilles's piano skills are what I'm working on improving in myself, and the electronic buzz of Owl City's music and the creativity of all of their lyrics is something that very much influences me.
Otherwise, I like The Fray, OneRepublic, Damien Rice, Deuter, Celtic Woman, Paramore, Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, Owl City, LIGHTS, Nightwish, Within Temptation, John Williams, Two Steps from Hell, etc.
I have a generation 1 Yamaha Tyros digital arranger workstation, an Ibanez acoustic-electric guitar, a flute, and many a cable that I'd have to remember what they're all for. I also have a Bose sound system that I've used for Christmas gigs with my brother.
