Be Positive, Be Up !

Inspired by the benchmark rock bands such as Nirvana, the Beatles, AC/DC and etc., Up Facility, with lead singer/songwriter Peng Li, guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Bohan Xie, bassist/multi-instrumentalist Zac Hines, and guitarist/audio engineer Anthony Cocorinos, is a newly formed modern rock band having styles ranging from Alternative Rock, Garage, Indi Rock to Hard Rock and Grunge. The goal of this band is simple: sending positive vibes through the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll to the people worldwide, and make them “Up”.

The main man Peng Li, with his multifaceted background including trained social worker, private investor, entrepreneur, musician, and music technologist, has a unique vision in terms of both music and life experiences. With Li taking in charge, Up Facility’s music can take you to an inspiring and refreshing journey. To Li, music is life; he’s trying to turn everything he sees, hears, and feels into music. Li believes that art is a form of abstraction of daily life and culture; everyone can be their own artist.

As a vocalist/ songwriter/composer/producer/guitarist, Peng Li started to play rock music since he was 15. Although the road of pursing music dream hasn’t always been smooth for Li, with a pure goal of making world-class modern rock music to affect as many people as possible positively worldwide, he went to New York City to attend music technology graduate program In NYU for pursing his dream.

In there he met his multi-instrumentalist classmate Bohan Xie, who was a published professional musician in China. They started to play together and tried to start a band with the fellow musicians in the same program. Very soon, another guitarist Anthony Cocorinos, drummer Steve Zemanian, and Keyboardist Meihui Qiao Onboard, they tried to play as a quintet, the name was temporarily decided by Li as Up. The song “Up”, which has been treated as the theme song of the band, was created during that period of time.

Due to the heavy load of graduate study, the band practices and rehearsals hadn’t been very active. However, Li was never stopping making songs, and he had met with Xie at least once a week for a full semester to discuss and record songs together. In the beginning of 2016, Li, Xie, and Cocorinos regrouped the band and changed the name to Up Facility.
